It's Wednesday and my last full day in Abu Dhabi. I fly out of Dubai tomorrow evening on the long bittersweet trip home. I miss my girls, I miss my family, I miss my home, I miss my friends, I miss my dog but I think I will miss Jack as much as I miss all those things combined. We have had a wonderful 2 weeks and it will be really hard to leave here without him. I know he will feel the same way perhaps even worse, I get to go home to all those wonderful people and things and he has to stay here and work the hardest job he's ever had.
I went to the Grand Mosque this morning and took the guided tour. The pictures cannot begin to describe how magnificent the mosque is. It is completely done in white Italian marble inside and out. There are 83 domes, anything that is gold in color is 24kt. gold. It has the largest Persian carpet in the world in the main prayer hall that holds 3500 men. It has the largest chandelier in the world that weighs 3.5 tons. This visit was the highlight of the trip and I've seen some really beautiful places. Our tour guide was very informative and encouraged any and all questions. It has taken 12 years to build so far and the grounds around it should be completed within the next year. It will cost over 2.6 billion US dollars when completed. Wow!!!
We took the night time view of the mosque from the Shangri-la hotel that is in his neighborhood. This is Jack's favorite place to go over here, it is within walking distance and it is absolutely beautiful. We've been down here a few times and I can certainly see why Jack enjoys it here.

I love your blog. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Abu Dhabi is a fascinating place. Very beautiful, but I am glad I am someplace that only gets to 105F in the summer.
